Receipts and invoices: turning them on and issuing

Bookly issues computerized, digitally signed receipts and tax invoices — by hand for any payment, and automatically for deposits and fees. Turn it on once, then issue anywhere.

Guide forComputerPhone

The business owner turns receipts and invoices on once, and from then on managers can use them too. What you can issue depends on your business type and plan: an exempt dealer issues receipts. A licensed dealer or a company issues receipts on any plan, and on Pro also tax invoice-receipts, tax invoices and credit notes.

Turning it on

  1. In “Turn on receipts and invoices”, fill in your business type and details as registered with the authorities, address and contact details, VAT, and which number to continue from if you issued documents in other software this year.

  2. Read the issuing terms, tick “I have read and agree” and press “Turn on”.

Documents marked “Test document” aren’t official. The mark stays until Bookly receives its registration certificate from the Israel Tax Authority.

Issuing a document

  1. Click “New document”.

  2. Choose the document type, who it’s for (“Received from”, or a walk-in client’s name), the items or the amount, the payment method and “For (nature of the payment)”.

  3. Click the issue button. You can also save it as a draft or see a preview.

Deposits and fees paid through PayMe or PayPal get a document automatically the moment they’re paid — a tax invoice-receipt when your business issues tax invoices, and a receipt otherwise.

Original, copy, cancelling and credit

A document’s original is handed over only once — printed or saved as a file, on the website or in the app; after that you produce copies. An issued document can’t be deleted: you can cancel it before it’s handed over — it stays in the list, marked, and its number is never reused — or credit it with a credit note.

“Settings” on the receipts page shows “What needs doing” with the authorities and the numbering’s continuity, and it’s where you update your taxpayer details.

Can I continue the numbering from my previous software?

Yes. When turning it on, mark that you issued documents in other software this year and enter the next number for each document type. After the first document the numbering is locked.

Can an exempt dealer issue a tax invoice?

No. An exempt dealer issues receipts only.

What happens to my documents when the subscription isn’t active?

They stay yours: you can read them, produce copies and export them. Only issuing new documents waits for an active subscription.
