Live updates: the Dynamic Island and a live notification

The appointment happening now and the next one — in the iPhone’s Dynamic Island and Lock Screen, or a pinned notification on Android — and “Arrived” buttons as each one starts.

This is done in the Bookly app on your phone. The steps here are the app's.

Live updates show the business’s day without opening the app: the appointment happening now and how long is left, the next one and how many are done — and, for the whole team, who’s with a client and who’s free. At the start of each appointment an alert can pop up with the client, the service and the staff member, with “Arrived” and “No-show”.

On iPhone it shows in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen, and on Apple Watch too, in the Smart Stack.

There’s nothing to set: it’s on by itself for everyone who works in the calendar. When no music is playing on the TV at the business, it shows the appointments; when music plays, the screens remote — and the appointments come back once the music stops. Whoever sees the whole calendar sees the whole team’s day; everyone else, their own appointments. “Arrived?” pops up for the person whose calendar the appointment is in, and if they don’t have Bookly on a phone, for those who see the whole calendar.

Nothing showing? Check that Live Activities are on for Bookly in the iPhone’s Settings. You can mark “Arrived” straight from the Lock Screen, after Face ID.

“Today at the business” appears by itself an hour before the day’s first appointment and goes away half an hour after the last. The screens remote is for the owner and managers, while a screen at the business plays music. You can swipe it away, and it comes back the next day.

Who can use live updates?

Everyone who works in the calendar — the owner, managers, staff and the secretary role — on the Pro plan, in the phone app.

Does it show on a computer too?

No — live updates are on the phone only.
