Breaks, blocked time and time off
A weekly recurring break or a one-time one, blocked time for a few hours or a whole day, for one staff member or the whole business — and clients can’t book in it.
There are two ways to keep time free in the calendar. A break — one-time, or recurring every week on the days you choose, like a lunch break. Blocked time — a few hours or a whole day, for a vacation, sick day, meeting or holiday. Either way, clients can’t book in that time, and appointments already booked stay in the calendar.
Adding a break
In “Calendar”, click “Add a break”.
CalendarChoose “Recurring” or “One-time”, and under “For whom”, a staff member or “The whole business”.
For a recurring break tick “On which days”; for a one-time one pick a date. Then “From” and “Until”, and a name if you like — say, lunch break.
A recurring break can also be limited with “From” and “To” dates (empty — no end date). Click “Add recurring break” or “Add break”.
Blocking time and taking time off
In “Calendar”, click “Block time”.
CalendarPick “For whom”, the date, and “All day” — or the hours.
Add a reason if you like, and click “Block”.
Taking several days off? Block each day separately, with “All day”.
Removing
Click the break or blocked time in the calendar and confirm. A recurring break is removed from every day — “Remove from every day”.
A staff member adds and removes breaks and blocked time only in their own calendar. Breaks and blocks for the whole business are for the owner and managers only.
An event in Google Calendar or your phone’s calendar can block hours by itself — see Calendar sync.
The guided tour is in the app
In the “Calendar” chapter, the tour shows this on the screen itself, step by step.
What happens to appointments already booked in the time I blocked?
They stay in the calendar. If needed, move or cancel them, and the clients get a message.
How do I close for Shabbat and holidays without blocking each time?
Turn on “Shabbat-observant business”, and booking closes by itself by the Hebrew calendar. See Shabbat-observant business.
