What to do on a computer and what on a phone

Most things work on the website and in the app alike, with the same account. Here’s what’s done only on a computer, what only the app can do, and how iPhone and Android differ.

Guide forComputerPhone

Bookly works on the website — on a computer or in your phone’s browser — and in the iPhone and Android apps, with the same account and the same data. A change in one place shows up right away in the other. The calendar, clients, services, team, settings and the guided tour are available everywhere; only a few things belong to one place.

Website only

Moving from another system (importing clients and appointments); the team’s timesheet — corrections, approval, export and payroll — and a shared attendance tablet; receipt settings and files for your accountant; connecting Instagram, Facebook and TikTok and the social settings; connecting the account clients’ payments go into; writing the “About” text with AI; and a separate Insights page — in the app, the numbers are inside “Overview”.

App only

Owner notifications (push, and the bell in “Overview”), home screen widgets, a smartwatch app, live updates on the lock screen, voice questions and shortcuts, saving clients to your contacts, syncing with the phone’s calendar, clocking in with NFC tags, and scanning a QR code to pair a TV.

Want to know about every new booking? Download Bookly for iPhone or Android and sign in with the same phone number — owner notifications go to the app only.

iPhone vs Android

The two apps are nearly identical. The differences: in the app, the subscription and bundles are bought through the App Store or Google Play; Android has no Sign in with Apple; live updates appear on iPhone in the Dynamic Island and on the lock screen, and on Android as an ongoing notification; lock screen widgets exist on iPhone only; for watches — Apple Watch or Wear OS; on iPhone you ask Siri, and on Android you use the app’s shortcuts; and the language is changed on iPhone in the phone’s settings, and on Android inside the app.

Do I need both the website and the app?

Not necessarily. You can run almost everything from the app — only the tools listed under “Website only” are on the website alone. To get alerts about new bookings, you need the app.
